Heyo, whats a good r/mo build
Im pretty n00b at making rangers, decided to make one, and i dont know very many ranger builds. If you guys could post some that would be wicked cool.

Well.... without knowing much about you, or what you are looking for...
1.) Preperation
2.) Attack Skill
3.) Attack skill
4.) Interrupt
5.) Smite Hex
6.) Throw Dirt
7.) Troll Ungent
8.) Rebirth
Attributes:
Marks, Expertise and Wilderness survival
Don't worry about putting points into Smiting or Protection.

The most popular R/Mo build would be Barrage Rangers.
Barrage {E}
Savage Shot
Distracting Shot
(open slot)
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
Troll Ungent
Rebirth
Marksmanship should be around 15 or 16
Expertise Should be somewhere around 11-13
Beast Mastery and Wilderness Survival will vary depending on how much you put into Marksmanship and Expertise

A variation on SnipiousMax's broad class of useful builds would substitute the preparation (or perhaps augment it) with Judge's Insight, possibly coupled with a hornbow with a sundering mod, to maximize damage. In that case you definitely want to allocate points to Smiting Prayers.
I played around with that strategy again last week and although I was able to achieve nice large damage numbers it was also fraught with significant difficulties, including the cost of a 2 second spell and preparation as well as the difficulty of dealing with casters with a penchant for stripping enchantments.
I mention it here by way of asking if someone had developed a competitive build along these lines. Just curious.

judges insight + barrage, and a shadow/ivory/horned bow is really good in FoW espcially if you have an anti-skeleton/undead bowgrip. Throw in a few interrupts, some stance action (no pets) and viola.

.78(58.15) + .22(58.15) = 62.88 average damage w/ crits

Sundering Grinning Recurve Bow of Fortitude (Must be Recurve)
Brute Sword of Defense and a Magmas Shield (Must be +30 allways)
My threads
Obsidian Druids Armour (Sup Vig, Minor Exp, Minor Marks, Minor WS)
BM, Exp, Marks + WS masks (All with a Sup Rune of the respective attrib)
Fur, Studded + Drakescale chest pieces (All with same rune as normal cest piece)
My numbers
Expertise: 13 (12+1+3)
Marks: 11 (10+1)
WS: 10 (9+1)
Illusion: 8
My tactics- Dont focus on Prot Monks. The 1/4 second cast time is too fast to get without prediction.
- If there is a Healer Monk, concentrate on him because his cast times are awfully slow.
- Try to focus on high damage dealing Elementalists.
- If there is a Mesmer running Monk shutdown, stay on his tail.
- If an Assassin is running right at you, time Punishing Shot for when he casts his lead attack.
- For Assassins 1v1, save Distracting Shot for Shadow Refuge.
- For Warriors, take the hits but with Distortion on. With 8 in Illusion you can evade for ever.
- If you are 1v1'ing a caster, fake Troll or RTW to make him attempt a spell. As soon as he does, move a little and interrupt him
- Allways stick on the pests. If 2 Eles are spiking your Monk, only focus on 1. 1 of them completely shutdown is better than 2 partially shutdown.
- Keep SQ on as much as possible.
- Only use Distortion on Assassins if you mistimed interrupting his lead.
I've just thrown this little template together and some random but important little tactics. Good luck with Rangers.

My common, run of the mill, exploring PVE build is basically a degen/Pet build that has worked very good for me. I switch out Barrage/Hunters with Melandru's/Precision if the mobs don't group up.

Whirling defence

Druids armor with best vigor
Weapon
Any zealous bow, so that you get back half the energy you use per skill if you have 13 expertise

really depends if you want PvP or PvE. if PvP than what role? interrupter, flag runner, crip shot ranger etc. if PvE than which area you play in? team/solo/henchies?
anyway a general good build for a ranger/monk will be
for non barrage build:
elite attack skill(crip shot, punishing shot, etc)
attack skill(usually interrupt)
attack skill(usually interrupt)
another attack skill or judge's insight, your choice
tiger's fury
preperation(kindle arrows, read the wind, apply poison, etc)
spirit(usually favourable winds, could also be winter, winnowing, etc)
res sig(PvP) or rebirth(PvE)
for barrage build, with pet:
barrage
attack skill(usually distracting shot, could also be savage shot or a non interrupt attack skill)
tiger's fury
judge's insight
spirit(usually favourable winds, could also be winter, winnowing, etc)
comfort animal
rebirth(you shouldnt use barrage for PvP)
charm animal
for barrage build, without pet:
barrage
attack skill(usually distracting shot, could also be savage shot or a non interrupt attack skill)
attack skill(not neccessarily interrupt)
tiger's fury
judge's insight
spirit(usually favourable winds, could also be winter, winnowing, etc)
free slot(either a defensive stance, speed boost stance, monk enchantment, or whatever else)
